British actor William Rush, best known for his role as Josh Stevenson on the BBC school drama Waterloo Road, has died at the age of 31.
His mother, Coronation Street actress Debbie Rush, shared the heartbreaking news with fans on social media on December 18, 2025, one day after his passing on December 17.
Debbie Rush’s emotional announcement described the family’s profound grief and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
She revealed that even in death William made a final generous act — he was an organ donor, a decision she said would “give hope and life to other families.”
William rose to prominence as a young actor on Waterloo Road, appearing in hundreds of episodes between 2009 and 2013.
Over his career he also appeared in other British TV series such as Grange Hill, Shameless, Casualty, and Vera, and even competed on The X Factor in 2016.
