Kamalini debuts, Sneh Rana returns for India Women

17‑Year‑Old G Kamalini Debuts, Sneh Rana Returns for India Women in 5th T20I vs Sri Lanka

Thiruvananthapuram — In the fifth and final T20 International of the ongoing series between India Women and Sri Lanka Women, teenage batter G. Kamalini made her much‑anticipated senior India debut while experienced all‑rounder Sneh Rana returned to the playing XI.

India have already clinched the series with a 4–0 lead going into the finale.

At just 17 years old, Kamalini earned her maiden T20I cap for India, stepping in for rested senior players including Smriti Mandhana.

The young Tamil Nadu cricketer, who impressed at the Under‑19 level and in the women’s domestic circuit, walked out to bat alongside the likes of Shafali Verma as India looked to give valuable senior‑team exposure to emerging talent.

Meanwhile, Sneh Rana, a seasoned campaigner in India’s bowling and all‑round ranks, was brought back into the side for this match.

Her inclusion adds balance and experience to India’s lineup after some rotation among senior players for this series finale.

India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur confirmed the changes at the toss, noting the team’s intention to finish the dominant series on a strong note while also giving opportunities to fresh faces.

Sri Lanka elected to bowl first in the match, looking to challenge the home side and cap off their tour with a positive performance.

Kamalini, snapped up by Mumbai Indians Women in the 2025 WPL auction, has been earmarked as an exciting young prospect for India’s future, and her debut here highlights the selectors’ willingness to back youth as the team builds toward major events like the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup
