Uganda vs Nigeria Live Updates: Onuachu Goal Opens Scoring as Simon Shines

Nigeria made a strong start to their AFCON 2025 campaign as Paul Onuachu’s first-half goal gave the Super Eagles the lead against Uganda in a lively group-stage encounter.

Onuachu broke the deadlock after sustained Nigerian pressure, rising highest in the box to convert a well-delivered cross and put his side ahead.

The goal settled early nerves and underlined Nigeria’s physical presence in attack.

Much of Nigeria’s attacking spark came from Moses Simon, who impressed with his pace, direct running, and creativity on the left flank.

Simon consistently troubled the Ugandan defense, creating chances and stretching play with his movement and close control.

Uganda showed resilience after conceding and attempted to respond with quick transitions and disciplined defending, but Nigeria largely controlled possession and dictated the tempo.

The Super Eagles looked composed in midfield and organized at the back as they managed the game following the opener.

As the match continues, Nigeria will aim to build on their advantage, while Uganda search for a way back into the contest.

With Onuachu on the scoresheet and Simon in inspired form, the Super Eagles have laid down an early marker in their AFCON 2025 journey.
