Wondering if you can trade stocks on Christmas Day 2025?
Here’s everything you need to know about the market schedule around the holiday.
Christmas Day — Markets Closed
On Thursday, December 25, 2025, the major U.S. stock exchanges — including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq — are closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.
That means no regular trading on Christmas Day itself.
Christmas Eve — Early Close
The day before Christmas, Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the markets open as usual but close early at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
This is a longstanding tradition to allow traders and exchange staff to prepare for the holiday. 📅 When Markets Resume
After the holiday, markets reopen on Friday, December 26, 2025, and are expected to trade normal hours (typically 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET) unless otherwise noted by exchange calendars.
